Body found in Kildare as gardai confirm search for man missing for over a week stood down

The search for a man missing for over a week has been stood down following the discovery of a body in Kildare.

Jamie O'Keefe, 32, was last seen on Friday, October 18 at around 5.30pm in the Naas area.

He was reported missing and gardai issued an appeal for help finding him on Monday, October 21.

They described him as being around 5' 9" in height, with a slim build, black hair and green eyes. He was wearing blue jeans, a black jacket and black Nike Air Max runners when last seen.

Gardai stated that his family were "concerned for his welfare" and asked anyone with information to contact them.

In a sad update this afternoon, officers confirmed that the missing persons appeal has been stood down following the discovery of a body. They thanked the public for their help.

A Garda spokeswoman said: "Following the discovery of a male body earlier today in Naas, Co. Kildare, the missing person appeal for Jamie O'Keefe, 32 years, who was reported missing from Naas, Co. Kildare on Monday 21st October 2024, has been stood down.

"No further media action is required and no additional information is available at this time. An Garda Síochána would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance in this matter."
