Dublin Marathon results 2024: Winner as Irish record broken and Colin Farrell's time

Kenya's Moses Kemei took the top spot in Sunday's Irish Life Dublin Marathon.

The 31-year-old clocked a personal best time of 2:08.47. He was closely followed by Ethiopia's Abebaw Desalew, who finished second with a time of 2:09.24.

Dundrum South Dublin AC's Hiko Tonosa broke the Irish record to win the national marathon title in 2:09:42, and placed third overall. Asmirach Nega from Ethiopia was the first woman across the finish line, setting a new course record time of 2:24.13, while the Irish women's national title went to Ann-Marie McGlynn of Letterkenny AC, who completed the race in 2:34.05, reports Dublin Live.

Scotland's Sean Frame took home the victory in the wheelchair category with a time of 1:45.14. Hollywood actor Colin Farrell also participated in the marathon in honour of his close friend Emma Fogarty, the longest-surviving person in Ireland with a rare genetic skin condition called Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). Farrell is aiming to raise EUR1 million for the charity Debra and completed the marathon in four hours, six minutes and 45 seconds.

Martin Kelly, who has run every Dublin Marathon since 1980 crossed the line in 3:42:27. Mary Hickey, the only woman to have run every Dublin Marathon, finished in 5:23:14, while Lord Mayor Medal recipient Ger Copeland crossed the line in 3:06:44.

The marathon kicked off at 8.45am on Sunday morning with more than 20,000 runners taking part in the 43rd annual event. The race started at Leeson Street Lower and is set to finish in Mount Street Upper at 5pm.

A total of 22,500 people registered for the race, with conditions being perfect for running. Dublin's marathon is renowned as one of the friendliest in Europe, with thousands of volunteers and supporters ready to line the streets for the event.
