Liam Payne was looking forward to a new life in Florida after moving into a stunning home with his girlfriend - but was left stuck in Argentina while waiting for his US visa to be renewed.

The former One Direction star, 31, and his partner Kate Cassidy had moved into a mansion in Wellington, Palm Beach County, just a month before his tragic death. Sadly, Liam fell from the balcony of his third-floor room at CasaSur Hotel in Buenos Aires on Wednesday afternoon and was pronounced dead after suffering serious injuries.

He had been in Argentina with Kate and the pair had seen his former 1D bandmate Niall Horan play a sold-out concert. However, Kate had left before Liam to go back home to take care of their dog, while the singer remained in Buenos Aires, waiting for his visa to be renewed by the US embassy.

Sources have claimed Liam's O-1 non-immigration visa - which required him to go abroad so it could be renewed - was due to be approved on Friday - two days after he tragically passed away. Liam and Kate had moved into a Spanish-style rental mansion, costing $9,500 (€8,700) just a month before he passed away - and had shared a glimpse into his new home with his fans on Snapchat.

The singer joked as he made the video standing outside wearing sunglasses as he mimicked Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous as he waved his arm and exclaimed: "Who lives in a house like this? Let's go and find out." As he walked inside the house, Liam continued: "Welcome to LJP Cribs. Built during the first revolution, original stone… since then they knocked a few walls through and the ceiling was vaulted twice."

The late star's fun-loving side was apparent as he walked past two wicker baskets and told fans in the video: "This is where I keep my pet snakes Sid and Alan." He then showed off a recessed arch in the wall beneath and white and black iron balustraded staircase as he joked: "This did contain one of the most important paintings in the world inside it, but it was stolen."

Elsewhere in the clip, Liam opened a small cupboard with household items in and said: "This is where we hide people." He then headed upstairs and strolled through the hallway adding: "I'm a busy man, I'm a very, very busy man so I need space to think."

Inside on of the bedrooms, Liam opened a walk-in closet filled with girlfriend Kate's shoes as he declared: "This is where we hide a few more people." He then headed back down the hallway concluding his tour adding: "I will now go down the dizzy staircase and continue on with my day. Thanks for watching LJP Cribs."

Liam and Kate began dating two years ago and despite experiencing a brief break-up in May 2023, they got back together shortly after. In a heartbreaking statement shared after Liam's death, Kate said she has been "at a complete loss" since Wednesday and said she loved him "unconditionally and completely".

She wrote: "Thank you for all of the kind words and love that has been sent my way. I have been at a complete loss. Nothing about the past few days have felt real. I ask and pray that you'll give me the grace and space to navigate this in private. Liam, my angel. You are everything. I want you to know I loved you unconditionally and completely. I will continue to love you for the rest of my life. I love you Liam."
