One Direction's Liam Payne has tragically passed away after a fall from his hotel room balcony on Wednesday evening. The former One Direction singer sustained "very serious injuries incompatible with life" following his fall from the third floor of the Casa Sur Palermo hotel just after 5pm local time.

Details surrounding his untimely passing are still under investigation. Liam leaves behind family and his seven year old son Bear, shared with former partner Cheryl.

Argentine police, in a statement to The Associated Press, confirmed that the dad-of-one had "jumped from the balcony of his room", seemingly dispelling any notions of an accidental fall or foul play.

Liam was just 31 years old at the time of his heartbreaking demise. The Mirror now reflects on his last days spent in Argentina, piecing together his final activities before his premature death.

September 20: Liam and his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, touched down in Argentina for what was meant to be a five-day getaway but turned into a fortnight's stay. Sharing snaps on Snapchat of their vacation, he told followers: "This is the breakfast table, just enjoying breakfast and coffee even though it's 1pm."

He then shared that they were staying at a pal's place, with Kate playfully calling them 'losers' for sleeping in.

Liam added: "Today, we ride. I think I'm going to be playing polo again, which is going to put me out of action for about six weeks."

Reunion with Niall

October 2: Liam caught up with his former bandmate Niall Horan while in Argentina. In a heartfelt Snapchat video labelled 'We're going to Argentina to see Nialler', he shared with fans: "Niall Horan is playing down there and I think we might just go to say hello. It's been a while since me and Niall have spoken. We've got a lot to talk about. And I would like to square up a couple of things up with the boy."

He clarified, saying: "No bad vibes or anything like that. But just ... we need to talk."

Liam got to fulfil his wish as he joined Kate at Niall's concert at the Movistar Arena and heaped praises on the performance by calling it a 'lovely show'.

Across various social media platforms, Liam posted photos and videos enjoying Niall's music, including one labelled 'reunited' showing both friends together, clearly elated by the encounter. He also expressed his joy in another post, noting: "So happy I got to see Niall in concert."

Haunting videos with fans

From October 2: Eerily, fans uploaded poignant videos showcasing Liam's final public moments during his Argentina visit. A fan expressed their awe on Instagram on October 2, posting: "Totally unreal this. I love you Liam! A dream come true! What a love you are."

Meanwhile, TikTok footage depicts Liam interacting with admirers outside his hotel looking somewhat unsteady as he reacts to a hug, saying, "That was a really big squeeze" and seemingly deep in thought in another instance.

In a separate video, Liam is seen signing an autograph for a fan and humorously asking the crowd for a 'pen' as he doesn't have one. When they respond with 'lapicera', the Spanish word for pen, he quips: "I feel like you're trying to make me say something rude."

Girlfriend returns home

October 12: Liam's girlfriend Kate jetted back to Florida after spending two weeks away, leaving Liam behind. She shared with her TikTok followers: "I was so ready to leave. Love South America, but I hate staying in one place for too long and we were supposed to be there for five days, turned into two weeks and I was just like, 'I need to go home'."

Checks into hotel

October 13: Reports suggest that Liam checked into the upscale Casa Sur Hotel suite by himself three days prior to his passing. He reportedly had to leave his previous accommodation.

Mystery hotel women

October 15: Claims have surfaced that two unidentified women were with Liam the night before his untimely death and didn't exit the hotel where he died until the day of the incident. An Argentinian journalist reported that these women have been found and interrogated by the authorities, even revealing their first names on national television.

Prosecutors have confirmed that they questioned five individuals, including two women who were with Liam shortly before his death, as part of a "reconstruction of his last hours". The journalist disclosed: "He was with two women in his room where there was access to drugs. I'm not going to say their surnames."

"[Woman A] gave a statement last night and [Woman B] has just finished hers."

The Mirror has decided not to disclose the identities of the women at this time. It's reported that these women left the hotel before Liam tragically fell to his death, and they are being referred to as "key witnesses" in local media reports, rather than suspects in his death.

Liam's final Snapchat post

October 16 Liam's last photo on his Snapchat story was a mirror selfie with his girlfriend Kate. It's believed the photos were taken a few days earlier, as she was back in Florida when they were posted.

In his last days, Liam was seen making donations to GoFundMe accounts for sick children live on Snapchat. The dad-of-one expressed how seeing ill children affected him differently now that he was a parent.

He said: "As a father, it hits me differently. I would want everyone in the world helping. I have been spending the last few nights trying to finish off the donations so they can get the operations they need - they would be free in my country."

"I can't look at a sick child and not see Bear. I can't and I won't. I'm not asking for people to say well done or I'm amazing - I don't give a f*** about what people think of me."

He added: "What I care about is that that child gets to live the life it's supposed to."

'Out of place' behaviour

Hours before: Just hours before his tragic end, a woman known only as Rebecca had a brief encounter with Liam in the hotel lobby. She described him as "desperate" for recognition.

According to her, he introduced himself by shouting loudly "I'm Liam" to a queue of guests waiting for the lift, who seemed uninterested in his identity. Rebecca claimed that Liam returned to the lobby with his laptop and appeared to have read an email that "upset" him.

She said: "Suddenly he took the computer, shouted 'f**k this s**t mate! ' and started bashing the computer on the ground."

His behaviour, which seemed "out of place" in the "high-end" hotel, left onlookers "shocked". Concerned, Rebecca asked if he was okay.

She explained: "But he just kind of grunted. Then he said 'I used to be in a boyband. That's why I'm so f**ked up'."

Taken aback by his confession, she watched him get back in the lift, before a "British guy" apologised to the group on "his behalf", explaining that Liam "gets so high" sometimes. She added that he stumbled when he returned to the lobby, with staff assisting him into the lift.

Just hours before his death, he told his close friend, Jodie Richards - his former performing arts teacher at Pink Productions - that he was having a "chilled-out morning" and showed "no cause for concern". She had spoken to the "one-of-a-kind" star on Wednesday and initially thought news reports of his death were "fake".

The 41-year-old had frantically tried to get in touch with Liam, whom she texted just hours before, saying: "He was looking forward to his day, he said he was having a chill, nothing seemed out of the ordinary", Jodie recounted. "He's always somewhere more glamorous than we are so LA, Argentina, I have to look at the time difference to see where he is, he usually texts me and it's the middle of our night. He seemed fine, he looked happy, he looked healthy - no reason for any kind of concern and then obviously I heard it on the news."

While talking to Sky News, Jodie added: "I thought it was fake news, I tried to phone him. Obviously he wasn't answering. I tried to text him, it wasn't going to a 'read' message - normally it does quite quickly, then as I turned the telly on it was getting more and more apparent it wasn't fake."

Desperate call to the police

Moments before: In the moments before the tragedy unfolded, it's believed the 31-year-old had been under the influence of either alcohol or drugs, according to local media.

Hotel staff, in a frantic 911 call, requested immediate help, with one receptionist informing the operator: "We have a guest who's off his head on drugs and is destroying everything in his room. We need someone to come."

After the line went dead, the receptionist added with urgency: "I don't know if the guest's life is in danger. The room has a balcony and we are afraid he might do something."

Mere moments later, the receptionist made a sombre request: "Just send an ambulance. Only an ambulance."

Nearby witnesses have suggested that Liam was suffering from a "psychotic episode" just before his tragic end. An office worker near the Casa Sur hotel reported that the on-site masseuse described Liam's behaviour as erratic.

Josefina, a fan of One Direction, recounted to América TV: "I was working in an office next to the hotel when we started hearing lots of sirens and lots of noise. A colleague went down to see what was happening and managed to talk to the hotel masseuse who mentioned there was a man being aggressive, breaking things, and seemingly having what looked like a psychotic episode, possibly high on drugs."

'Violent' noises

Moments before: Guests at the hotel reported hearing "loud" and "violent" noises emanating from Liam's room. Doug Jones, another guest, told the BBC: "I thought they were working on the room. There was a lot of noise, like heavy lifting, like banging, a lot of loud, violent noises, I thought."

Doug recounted spotting hotel staff entering the suite where it's believed Liam Payne had been staying, saying: "I saw hotel people going in and out of that room, so I thought they were doing work on the room."

Despite this, the disturbance continued, with Doug adding, "So about 4pm, 4.30pm, I started hearing some more noise, I was still doing work," and then revealing, "I heard a really loud, violent scream around 4.45pm, 5pm."

The police turned up just before 5pm, but as they did, a loud bang echoed from the courtyard at 5.04pm. Shortly after, the tourist witnessed "the road full of cops," as the grim reality of Wednesday evening's events began to emerge.

Detectives searching Liam's hotel room found "what appeared to be narcotics, alcohol, destroyed objects and furniture". Images claiming to show the interior of the room where Liam spent his last moments have been verified by media including La Nacion and Clarin.
