New Delhi: A Delhi court on Monday granted bail to Lalu Yadav and his son Tej Pratap Yadav in the land for job scam. Seven other accused in the case have also been granted bail. The Rouse Avenue Court on Monday granted the bail on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh each. They have also been asked to surrender their passports. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for October 25.

Taking cognisance of ED’s chargesheet, the court issued a summons to Lalu and others on September 18. While Tej Pratap Yadav was not named in the chargesheet, the court summoned him, saying since he is a member of Lalu Yadav’s family and his role in money laundering can’t be denied.

According to reports in India TV, the court said a large amount of land was transferred in the name of the Yadav family.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) permitted the prosecution of former chief minister of Bihar, Lalu Yadav, in a money laundering case linked to the land for job scam. The MHA’s decision follows the Central Bureau of Investigation’s (CBI) final chargesheet in the scam. Prosecution sanctions from MHA are awaited for 30 other accused. The CBI has sought 15 days to obtain sanctions against the remaining accused.
