Odisha Custody Torture Case: BJD Calls For Bhubaneswar Bandh On Sept 24

Bhubaneswar: The BJD has called for Bhubaneswar bandh on September 24 to protest the alleged assault on an army officer Major and his fiancée at Bharatput police station in Odisha capital.

The bandh will be observed in Bhubaneswar for 6 hours on Tuesday to protest the alleged police action the army officer and his fiancée, BJD vice president Debi Prasad Mishra said at a press meet on Sunday.

The incident has drawn criticism from leaders cutting across party lines. On Saturday, women members of BJD staged a demonstration outside the Governor House in this matter.

The police have arrested 7 youths who allegedly harassed the couple while they were on their way back home. Similarly, five police personnel including the Inspector-in-Charge have been suspended following the incident.
