Mumbai: Bollywood actor Salman Khan received a fresh death threat from an unidentified person, reports on Wednesday stated. The person has demanded a Rs 2 crore ransom. The warning was sent in the form of message sent to Mumbai Traffic Police. It stated that if the money was not paid, then the actor would be killed.

After receiving the message, police in Mumbai’s Worli district registered a case against the unknown sender, the India Today reported. An investigation into the matter has been launched.

On Tuesday, Mumbai Police had nabbed a 20-year-old man in Noida in connection with a threat call case involving Salman Khan and Zeeshan Siddique, an Ajit Pawar-led NCP MLA and son of the late Baba Siddique, who was recently shot dead.

Earlier, Mumbai Police had arrested one Shaikh Hussain Shaikh Mausin, a 24-year-old vegetable seller from Jamshedpur, over a threat message received by Mumbai Traffic Police’s WhatsApp helpline, reported the NDTV. The threat message had demanded ₹ 5 crore as ransom.

In the past, Salman Khan had received death threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang due to his involvement in the blackbuck hunting case in Rajasthan during the shooting of his film, Hum Saath Saath Hain. The Bishnoi community considers blackbuck to be their sacred animal.

In April, some suspected members of the gang had also opened fire outside the actor’s Bandra home. In social media posts, the gang had claimed responsibility of the attack.

The string of death threats to the actor followed the murder of Siddique, who was close to Salman Khan.
