New Delhi: The country is in mourning today following the death of renowned industrialist and philanthropist Ratan Tata, who passed away late Wednesday night at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. Tata, who had been battling a prolonged illness, breathed his last at the age of 86, leaving behind a monumental legacy in business and philanthropy.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was among the many who expressed deep sorrow over Tata’s passing. Taking to social media, PM Modi wrote, “Ratan Tata was a visionary business leader, a kind soul, and an extraordinary human being. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also mourned Tata’s demise, noting, “Ratan Tata was a stalwart of Indian industry. India’s economy stands on the cusp of historic growth, and Ratan’s life and work played a crucial role in getting us here.”

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi shared his condolences, remarking, “Ratan Tata was a man of vision, leaving an indelible mark on both business and philanthropy.” The Congress party also issued a statement, calling Tata’s death an “irreparable loss” to Indian business and society. “Padma Vibhushan Shri Ratan Tata shaped the corporate landscape of India and leaves behind a legacy that will inspire generations,” the statement read.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu reflected on Tata’s enduring influence, writing, “Few people have left a lasting mark on this world like Ratan Tata, with his foresight and integrity. Today, we have lost not just a business giant, but a true humanitarian whose legacy lives in every heart he touched, beyond the industrial landscape.”
