The PUNCH: Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals has taken legal action against the Nigeria Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority and some major importers in the oil and gas sector at the Federal High Court in Abuja. In suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/1324/2024, Dangote Refinery sought N100bn in damages from NMDPRA for continuing to issue licences for the importation of refined products such as Automotive Gas Oil and Jet-A1 (aviation fuel).


ThisDay: In a renewed bid to grow Nigeria’s crude oil output significantly in the next 12 months, President Bola Tinubu yesterday launched the ‘1MMBOPD’ Initiative meant to raise production by 1 million barrels per day, by harnessing dormant oil assets and optimising existing ones.


The Nation: Controversy over the supply of petrol from Dangote Refinery to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) deepened yesterday. In a new twist, a document from the state oil company showed that the refinery has been unable to meet the supply request. According to the document, the NNPCL requested for 1.065 billion litres between September 15 and October 20.


Daily Trust: Governors elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will meet today to decide whether the much-anticipated National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party scheduled for Thursday will go ahead as planned. The meeting, it was gathered, was called following indications that fresh efforts to extend the tenure of the acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum, had gained momentum ahead of the scheduled meeting.
