Former Exeter Chiefs player Stuart Hogg admits domestic abuse charge

Former Exeter Chiefs player Stuart Hogg has confessed to abusing his estranged wife over a five-year period. The 32-year-old was scheduled to face trial at Selkirk Sheriff Court today (Monday, November 4), but instead pleaded guilty to one charge when he appeared in court.

The father of four arrived at the court with his parents. He admitted to a single charge of domestic abuse against his estranged wife, Gillian Hogg, spanning from 2019 to 2024.

The former Scotland captain, who now plays for French club Montpellier, is set to be sentenced on December 5 at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.

Hogg played 69 times for Exeter Chiefs from 2019 to 2023. He scored a total of 104 points and became a European and English Premiership champion with the club in 2020.
