Some were left unimpressed by the opening

Strictly Come Dancing enthusiasts voiced their frustrations just moments into the third live broadcast on Saturday, October 5. The beloved BBC One dance spectacular was back for its Movie Week extravaganza.

At the beginning of the programme, audiences were treated to a 'Glitterball mystery' comedy skit featuring the show's talent as potential suspects. Yet, fans were not amused with the preamble, wishing instead to get straight to the energetic dances.

Viewers took to Twitter to air their grievances: "Just. Start. The. F**king. Show. Already. #Strictly", said one, another implored: "Too much messin abaaaht at the start already! #Strictly". Meanwhile, another viewer considered the comic interlude a classic trope: "They always have to start movie week with a cringe cheesy VT lol. It's basically a tradition at this point. #Strictly"; and yet another commented disparagingly on the opening act: "Not a fan of the opening bit... #Strictly! " In this themed episode, professional dancers got into the movie spirit transforming into the Minions from 'Despicable Me', with Kai Widdrington adopting the look of Gru, the series' main character, whilst his fellow dancers sported yellow to emulate the iconic minions.

Throughout the evening, the pros and their celebrity partners entertained the audience with film-inspired performances complete with dramatic costumes.

Regrettably, DIY SOS presenter Nick Knowles and his dance partner Luba Mushtuk were set to delight audiences with the Charleston to 'Rain On The Roof' from Paddington 2 before Nick had to withdraw on Friday due to an injury. In line with Strictly regulations, they will "receive a bye" through to next week's show, optimistically anticipating his recovery, reports the Mirror.

This follows the departure of Olympian Tom Dean and his dance partner Nadiya Bychkova last weekend, who were the first duo to exit this season's competition.
