Fans of Channel 4's The Great British Bake Off complained over the most recent episode pastry challenge. Taking to social media, fans have complained about the latest episode, while some have found the humour in it.

Some bake off fans complained at how frequently the contestants mentioned 'frangipane' while showcasing their skills in crafting the classic pastry. The famous French dessert was the star of the show as the bakers were tasked with putting their spin on frangipane, ahead of facing the technical challenge and then whipping up intricate sweet pie showstoppers.

However, not everyone was impressed by the repeated use of the term 'frangipane' throughout the programme. Fans took to social media platform X, formerly Twitter, to complain while some found the recurrent mention somewhat humorous, reports The Express.

One person said: "If there was a drinking game for every time they say frangipane we'd all be frangipaned #GBBO."

Another added: "still don't understand what a frangipane is #GBBO," and a third said: "somehow watching #GBBO and the amount of times 'FRANGIPANE' has been mentioned in the last 10 minutes i think is genuinely nearing over 2000."

Another person said: "Stop saying frangipane! #GBBO lmao," and yet another shared: "turns out I really like the word frangipane #GBBO."

Later on in the episode, the bakers were confronted with the task of perfecting flaky pastry, a challenge where achieving the ideal balance between lightness and structure proved too difficult for some.

For the grand finale, the showstopper challenge was to create a Paris-Brest complete with its own freestanding podium, traditionally comprising choux pastry filled with praline flavoured cream.
