Boy arrested on suspicion of Exeter rape is released on police bail

by Shania King-Soyza · DevonLiveA 15-year-old boy has been released on police bail after being arrested on suspicion of rape. Catherine Street in Exeter was cordoned off by police following reports of a serious sexual assault that occurred in the early hours of Thursday, September 26.
Devon and Cornwall Police have shared that the teen has been released on police bail until December 27. Meanwhile, the victim is receiving assistance from officers trained to handle such sensitive situations.
Initially a scene guard was established near Drakes Coffee House, but it has since been lifted. Devon and Cornwall Police say they are actively investigating the matter.
A police spokesperson said: "Police were notified in the early hours of this morning [Thursday 26 September] following reports of a rape in Exeter city centre. A scene guard was put in place at Catherine Street."
