Strictly Come Dancing's Anton Du Beke admits he felt 'inadequate' in marriage struggle
Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke has spoken out about how he felt 'inadequate' watching his wife Hannah give birth to their twins back in 2017
by Danny Gutmann · DevonLiveStrictly Come Dancing's Anton Du Beke has opened up about the 'emotional' and 'stressful' time leading up to the birth of his twins in 2017, during a recent appearance on Giovanna Fletcher's Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast.
He compared his role during his wife Hannah's pregnancy to that of Olaf, the character from Frozen who holds dandelion fuzz, saying: "This is what it felt like to me, throughout the whole time Hannah was pregnant.
"I felt like I was holding dandelion fuzz and at any second, it could just go away into the aether. That was my whole being."
He continued: "She had these injections, and the bruises on the bum and the thigh, and you're trying to do it and trying to help, but what can you do?"
As Hannah prepared for the arrival of their twins Henrietta and George in March 2017, Anton said he did everything he could to support her: "Whatever you want, tell me and I'll do it", he told her.
"It's horrendous as a man to watch it. You feel so inadequate and you want to do so much more, but I can't do anything.
"And that's why you girls are so extraordinary", the Strictly star added, addressing podcast host Giovanna, who is a mum-of-three.
Anton also revealed that his children were born against the odds, after he and Hannah underwent IVF, as it initially seemed she would be unable to conceive due to her endometriosis battle.
He shared: "Because, you know, Hannah had this thing that said she couldn't have children, and then you're sort of able to try and defeat that, really.
"And then you end up with this perfect perfect boy and girl who are just magical."
After crossing paths with his marketing executive wife Hannah in 2012, the pair decided to get hitched five years later, a few months before their twin babies made their grand entrance.
