Liam Payne death sees police demand more access to hotel records

by · DevonLive

The probe into the tragic death of One Direction's Liam Payne is ongoing, with police reportedly making further inquiries at the hotel where he fell. The 31-year-old singer died on October 16 after a fall from a third-floor balcony at Casa Sur, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, sending shockwaves globally as fans and celebrities alike paid poignant tributes.

It's now reported that police are demanding more information from the hotel in the Argentinian capital, with insiders stating the establishment "must provide" additional security footage to investigators. They're also said to be seeking details about who was on duty that day.

US Weekly reports that police are trying to identify Casa Sur employees who were working on the day of the star's death and in the days leading up to the tragedy. A source told the magazine that during the police raid, they were looking for documents in the hotel's registration books and gathering information from its computers.

These developments follow sightings of Liam's bodyguard, Paul Higgins, with the police at the hotel reviewing security footage. Higgins was also seen questioning several hotel staff members to determine who allegedly supplied the late One Direction star with narcotics, as widely reported in the mainstream media.

Argentine media reports have revealed that traces of cocaine were found in the body of the deceased star, according to forensic experts. Infobae, a news portal, reported that substances extracted from the singer's body during an autopsy after his death last Wednesday "determined the presence of the class-A drug," reports the Mirror.

The star's heartbroken girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, shared a poignant post on Wednesday, disclosing the couple's plans to wed.

The 25-year-old unveiled a romantic note penned by Liam, which he had asked her not to read, promising they would be married within a year. The note stated: "Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged and together forever 444."

The number 444 is seen as an angel number, carrying special significance.

In the wake of the singer's death, fans have initiated a campaign to implement legislation that could provide support for musicians dealing with the pressures of fame. The cause, advocating for the establishment of 'Liam's Law', has surpassed its initial goal of 12,000 signatures and continues to gain momentum, with over 75,000 names currently supporting the document.

Liam had previously spoken about his battles with sobriety and provided candid insights into his often fragile mental health. These revelations have sparked outrage among fans who believe he died seemingly without support.

The petition aims to actualise a proposition suggested by Liam to offer enhanced support to young musicians.
