Better weather is in store for Ireland over the coming days after a rather stormy Sunday.

Multiple warnings issued across the country have now been lifted and it will be a much calmer Monday.

Met Eireann says conditions will be "dry and settled" over the coming days.

Sharing today's forecast (Monday September 30), Met.ie says: "Mostly cloudy this morning with patchy rain and drizzle spreading from the northwest but it will become drier and brighter in the southwest with sunny spells. During the afternoon, the cloud and rain will become largely confined to Ulster and north Leinster with a mix of sunshine and scattered showers elsewhere. Much of the country will become dry in the evening. Highest temperatures of 11 to 16 degrees in moderate to fresh northwest winds.

"It will be dry across the bulk of the country tonight with clear spells. However, there is the chance of a few showers in Leinster. Minimum temperatures of 6 to 9 degrees in light to moderate northerly winds with a few mist patches forming."

Tomorrow (Tuesday October 1) will be a dry day, but temperatures will drop at night time.

The forecast reads: "Tuesday will be largely dry with plenty of sunshine and just a few isolated light showers. Top temperatures will range from 13 to 16 degrees in moderate northerly winds.

"It will be dry with mostly clear skies on Tuesday night. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 8 generally but a little milder on the east coast with moderate northeast breezes."

It currently looks like conditions on Wednesday (October 2) will be similar:

"Another bright and mostly dry day on Wednesday with lots of sunshine and just scattered cloud. Highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees in moderate easterly winds. Dry and mostly clear on Wednesday night. Lowest temperatures generally ranging from 6 to 9 degrees with light easterly breezes."

While the week will get off to a dry and settled start, Met Eireann predicts the weather will turn "more unsettled for the weekend".
