Phillip Schofield addresses This Morning exit and appears to make dig at Holly Willoughby
The former This Morning and Dancing on Ice host candidly opens up about life since leaving ITV in new Channel 5 show Cast Away, which airs for three nights next week
by Michelle Townsend · RSVP LivePhillip Schofield has addressed his exit from This Morning and has appeared to make a dig at his former co-host Holly Willoughby.
The ex TV presenter left the ITV show in May of last year after confessing to having an "unwise, but not illegal affair" with a younger male colleague.
Now, over a year after stepping back from This Morning - as well as Dancing on Ice and The British Soap Awards - Phillip will make his comeback next week on Channel 5 show Cast Away.

In teaser clips from the show, which will air over three consecutive nights starting next Monday, Phillip confesses: "I miss parts of being on TV, certainly. I miss most of it, if I’m honest. I miss most of it. But there are bits that I really, really, really don’t miss.
"You learn a lot about people. I don’t miss that. When you throw someone under a bus, you’ve got to have a really bloody good reason to do it."
In what appears to be a thinly veiled dig at Holly 's viral "are you okay?" moment when she addressed Phillip's exit on This Morning for the first time, Phillip can be seen sitting down with wife Steph and daughters Molly and Ruby for a BBQ in their garden, where he jokingly says to them: "If you're okay, then we're okay and I'm okay. Are you okay?"
Phillip also suggested he was fired from ITV, rather than resigning by choice.
He tells the cameras: "It’s inconceivable that I would quit [Cast Away]. I don’t quit. I’m fired. But I never quit."
Opening up about his affair, the dad-of-two admits: "It was an unwise and unprofessional thing to do. I will be forever sorry. You know, I screwed up. I made a mistake. I hurt the people around me."
Elsewhere, Phillip clarifies rumours that he will be appearing on this year's series of I'm A Celebrity, which is hosted by his pals Ant and Dec.
Shutting down speculation, he says: "I’m apparently 4/1 to do the other jungle programme. Although my best mates host it, there are some channels you just won’t work for. There are just some people you won’t work for."
