Coronation Street murder investigation launched after Joel Deering's body is found

A murder investigation has been launched in Weatherfield after the body of evil Joel Deering was discovered in a river following his disappearance last month

Coronation Street fans were left reeling after the body of villainous Joel Deering was found in a river, sparking a massive Whodunnit storyline. The shocking discovery was made on Monday night.

A post mortem revealed that Joel had died before entering the water. Weatherfield residents were visibly shaken as DC Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) announced that Joel's death was now a murder investigation.

The detective began his inquiries by informing Lauren (Cait Fitton) and Dee-Dee (Channique Sterling-Brown), both victims of Joel's cruel manipulations, about his demise. With Joel having attempted to harm Lauren's unborn child and frame her for the crime, she certainly has motive.

In the coming weeks, viewers will be treated to several flashbacks as they try to piece together who might have killed Joel. Initial suspects include Ronnie (Vinta Morgan), uncle to Joel's wronged fiancee Dee-Dee, and Mason (Luca Toolan), a former bully trying to reform.

The first flashback will air on Wednesday night, taking viewers back to September 27th, the night Joel vanished.

His absence became suspicious when he failed to appear in court. As the weeks progress, Kit will face a challenging task of unravelling the mystery of who is responsible for Joel's death.

DS Swain, portrayed by Vicky Myers, who was previously sidelined from the case, is set to launch her own investigation. 'Corrie' has teased that there are "many more twists and turns to come" before the audience discovers who is truly behind Joel’s demise.
