The One Direction singer and solo star was found dead in Buenos Aires, Argentina according to local media reports, via Reuters.

The singer reportedly died outside a hotel in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires, local newspaper La Nacion reported on Wednesday (October 16).

It is said that he fell from the hotel’s third floor, via emergency sources.

Local papers La Nacion and Clarin reported that police were called to the hotel responding to an emergency call that cited “an aggressive man who could be under the effects of drugs and alcohol,” via the report.

It reportedly occurred after 5 p.m. in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Ambulance workers later confirmed the death. He was found in an interior hotel patio, according to the news reports.

Liam had been in Argentina for his bandmate Niall Horan‘s concert earlier in the month, where the two briefly reunited.

He was best known as a member of One Direction, the record-breaking boy band that became one of the best-selling boy groups of all time before going on an indefinite hiatus in 2016.

Afterward, Liam went on to sign a solo deal with Republic Records. His debut album, LP1, was released in December 2019. He reportedly sold over 18 million singles after One Direction‘s hiatus, and earned over 3.9 billion career streams during that time.

Liam was 16 when he joined One Direction, which was put together on The X Factor in 2010.

Our thoughts are with Liam Payne‘s loved ones at this incredibly difficult time. RIP.
