BLACKPINK singer Jennie has kicked off her new solo era with a brand-new single, titled ‘Mantra’.

The music video for ‘Mantra’ clip opens with a reference to the 1998 comedy film Rush Hour, with a child singing along to the new track by BLACKPINK’s Jennie. It then cuts to the K-pop star sporting wildly different looks as she steps out of a vintage car, before she performs the song’s choreography.

This that pretty-girl mantra, this that flaunt ya, just touched down in LA / Pretty girls don’t do drama ‘less we wanna, it’ll be depending on the day,” she chants on the chorus of the new song. Jennie described ‘Mantra’ the song as “a fun, upbeat anthem that celebrates girl power and inspires every woman to shine in her own way with confidence”.

‘Mantra’ is notably the first solo release Jennie has put out under her self-established label Odd Atelier, and since she signed a partnership with Columbia Records. She founded the label in late-2023, shortly after YG Entertainment shared that she and her BLACKPINK bandmates would not be renewing their solo contracts with the company.

Last month, YG announced that the girl group plan to release a new album and embark on a world tour in 2025. It will be their first music as a quartet since their September 2022 studio album ‘Born Pink’.

In other BLACKPINK news, Rosé has announced the title and release date of her upcoming debut studio album ‘rosie’. It will be her first solo music since her debut single album ‘R’ in 2021, which included the songs ‘On The Ground’ and ‘Gone’.
