Ole Gunnar Solskjær says he’s up for Manchester United return – Uncomfortable talking about Ten Hag’s job

Erik ten Hag may be under an increasing amount of pressure at Manchester United, but there was once a time when he was seen as the answer to the club’s perceived tactical cluelessness.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær was portrayed as something of a PE teacher who had got the job by chance and made a mess of it. Of course, his time in charge at Old Trafford looks rather better with the benefit of hindsight, but it’s easy to forget how strong the complaints were at the time.

Towards the end, things got rather nasty and the attitude of some Manchester United supporters towards the club legend was way beyond the line of reason.

They got their new man in Ten Hag, the Dutch tactical genius, and now he’s also being edged towards the exit door.

Solskjær has been speaking today at Oslo Business Forum in Lillestrøm in front of a crowd of 3000 people.

Norwegian newspaper VG had someone there, and they say it was a rare public apperarance from the former Manchester United manager.

He was asked about potentially taking the Norway job one day, to which he responded positively, but it’s his comments about the Red Devils which will make headlines.

Asked outright about a return to Old Trafford, he said: “If your family asks you, you say yes every day of the week. It feels wrong to talk about jobs other people have. But I say yes.”

Clearly, he doesn’t want to pile further pressure on Ten Hag… but he couldn’t lie about the club he still loves.
