Sporting Club de Portugal have reported that Manchester United will pay €11m to hire Ruben Amorim as their new manager.

The Portuguese club have released an official statement regarding the Portuguese coach after he was announced as Manchester United’s new manager today.

United have moved to hire him as Erik ten Hag’s replacement following the Dutchman’s sacking earlier this week and have now officially announced the deal, with Amorim set to take charge in the next international break.

Sporting have released an official statement following the news, stating they have ‘reached an agreement’ with Manchester United regarding the terms and conditions for Amorim’s departure.

According to the club Manchester United will pay €11m for Amorim’s signature, with Sporting also set to receive €1,657,000 ‘relating to the cancellation of credit rights’ as a result of the ‘renegotiation of contracts relating to intermediation commissions’.

The statement makes no mention of Amorim’s staff, with it believed he wants to take several of his current Sporting coaching team with him to Old Trafford.

That may require further negotiation on Manchester United’s part or a separate statement, but for now Amorim has been secured and, according to Sporting’s statement, at a cost of €11m initially.
