BBC Strictly Come Dancing pro breaks bone during rehearsals as stars 'rally around'
by Katy Hallam · ChronicleLiveStrictly Come Dancing has been hit by another injury scare as Nadiya Bychkova sustained a broken bone during practice. The 35 year old Ukrainian professional dancer took a tumble while rehearsing for a group number, landing on her hand this Wednesday.
On-site medics were quick to respond, and subsequent X-rays revealed a fracture. Despite being advised to rest, Nadiya is reportedly insistent on performing in the upcoming weekend show.
She's expected to take part in balcony scenes tomorrow night and has been cleared to continue with a group dance planned for later in the series.
A source disclosed last night: "Nadiya was training with the other pros when she fell. Her thumb essentially snapped and it appeared extremely painful."
They continued, "Everyone gathered around her. Nadiya's thumb was severely swollen and bruised, but she doesn't want to disappoint anyone and is determined she can perform the pre-recorded number.", reports Birmingham Live.

The insider confirmed that Nadiya intends to be there for Saturday night's live show. This news follows the announcement that pro Amy Dowden will be absent for Icons week on the BBC programme after becoming unwell post last week's live performance.
Amy, who has recently been given the all-clear from breast cancer, collapsed backstage after her dance with JB Gill. Lauren Oakley will step in for Amy during Icons week.
"A doctor eventually gave her the all-clear and she will be able to film, but might be handled with care by fellow pros."
"Nadiya will also be present on Saturday for the live show - she's insistent that the show must quite literally go on."
Meanwhile, professional dancer Amy Dowden, who took a break last year for breast cancer treatment, will not be present this week due to illness backstage.
