Liam Payne's girlfriend Kate Cassidy shares heartbreaking details of final weeks together

Liam Payne's girlfriend Kate Cassidy has paid tribute to the former One Direction star as "the kindest soul and the most fun-loving spirit" after his death last week.

The 31-year-old singer died in Buenos Aires, Argentina, after falling from the balcony of a hotel, leading to an outpouring of tributes from millions of fans around the world. Several of Liam's family members and close friends, including his One Direction bandmates Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik and Niall Horan, have taken to social media to share their memories of the star.

On Wednesday night, US influencer Kate became the latest person who knew Liam to post a new tribute, giving fans a glimpse into their final weeks together. The couple had been together since 2022, and Kate had been with Liam in South America in the days before he died.

Kate shared a black and white photo of her and Liam embracing on Instagram alongside a heartfelt message, admitting her "heart is shattered" and that the world "feels so dark" following his shock death. She also revealed that the pair had hoped to "marry within a year" as she shared heartbreaking details of their future plans.

The full tribute read: "I don't even know where to begin. My heart is shattered in ways I can't put into words.

"I wish you could see the huge impact you've had on the world, even as it feels so dark right now. You brought so much happiness and positivity to everyone-millions of fans, your family, friends, and especially me. You are so incredibly loved.

"You are - because I can't say were - my best friend, the love of my life, and everyone you touched felt just as special as I did. Your energy was contagious, lighting up every room you walked into."

Kate continued: "None of this feels real, and I can't wrap my head around this new reality of not having you here. I'm struggling to figure out how to live in a world without you by my side. Together, we got to be kids again, always finding joy in the smallest things."

"Liam, you had the kindest soul and the most fun-loving spirit. It feels like I've lost the best part of myself. I can't imagine a day without your laughter and love. You brought so much light into my life."

She went on to share: "A few weeks ago, we sat outside on a beautiful evening manifesting our lives together. I keep your note close, even though you told me not to look at it. It said, 'Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged & together forever 444.' Liam, I know we'll be together forever, but not in the way we had planned. You'll always be with me. I've gained a guardian angel."

Concluding her post, Kate wrote to Liam: "I will love you for the rest of my life and beyond, carrying our dreams and memories with me everywhere I go. Forever yours, Katelyn 444." The 'angel number', 444, is said to convey a message of love and support as well as guidance from angels.

The tribute was then followed by a series of candid photos of the couple, with thousands of fans taking to the comments section to share their support for Kate. "Thank you for sharing your happy memories. I pray for your healing journey - live the way he deserved to," one wrote, while another said: "I'm sure he's looking over you."
