Thomas Tuchel already knows what 'quality' Lewis Hall could bring to England

The former Chelsea boss has reportedly agreed to take over as England boss

Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall could be one of those to benefit from Thomas Tuchel landing the England job. The Magpies' youngster, who has been a regular under Eddie Howe this season, was handed his debut at former club Chelsea by the soon-to-be Three Lions boss.

Tuchel gave Hall his first taste of senior action when he was just 17-years-old, against National League side Chesterfield in the FA Cup in 2022. The Blues ran out 5-1 winners with Hall impressing and forcing his way into the first-team picture from thereon out.

Newcastle swooped in to sign the young defender on a £28million deal and there's hope he'll follow in Tino Livramento's footsteps into the England first-team set-up. The left-back position is a problem area for England and we could well see Tuchel hand Hall an opportunity to stake his claim in the senior side.

Speaking to the Evening Standard after handing Hall his debut, the former Chelsea boss said: “It was his performance in general and his attitude in training. The quality he showed was very calm and very good in our possession games and the little games he trained in.

“We never really trained with the full squad so it was more small-sided games, but he was good. I haven’t heard him speak so much in training. But he deserved to play, he is a nice guy and very calm. A huge opportunity at Stamford Bridge. He took his chance and was hugely involved in some of the goals. Happy for him.”

Tuchel has reportedly agreed terms with the FA to become Gareth Southgate's successor, with Lee Carsley expected to take control of the Three Lions' Nations League games in November before leading England through to the summer of 2026.
