BBC Radio 2's Zoe Ball is set to make her comeback to the early morning airwaves on Monday.

She took to X, previously known as Twitter, to announce: "Back on breakfast @bbcradio2 tomorrow morning at 6:30." The popular DJ expressed her gratitude to Scott Mills for stepping in during her absence.

Ball has been away from The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show since a brief appearance on August 8 after her summer holiday. In her absence, Gaby Roslin and Mills have been keeping the seat warm.

A spokesperson for BBC Radio 2 shared their enthusiasm: "We are looking forward to welcoming Zoe back to the Radio 2 Breakfast Show tomorrow morning." Although the BBC had confirmed Ball's return to the breakfast slot, they hadn't specified a date.

Ball, who is 53 years old, tragically lost her mother in April, sharing on social media: "We are bereft without you but will hold so tight to each other."

Taking over the Radio 2 morning show in 2019 from Chris Evans, Ball made history as the first woman to host the Radio 1 Breakfast Show back in 1998, a role she filled until 2000.

Her TV career includes co-hosting Live & Kicking with Jamie Theakston for three years starting in 1996, presenting Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two, and hosting ITV's reality competition Mamma Mia! I Have A Dream.
