A huge NBA transfer bomb happened on the European night, as Karl-Anthony Towns will reportedly leave the Minnesota Timberwolves to be traded to the New York Knicks in a three-team move, involving the Charlotte Hornets too.

The deal, which is yet to be finalized, involves Donte DiVincenzo and Julius Randle moving in opposing directions to join Anthony Edwards and teammates in Minnesota, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania. The Knicks also included a future first-round pick from the Detroit Pistons.

In the 2023-24 NBA season, the 28-year-old center almost put up a double-double per game at 19.1 points and 9.0 rebounds, helping the Minnesota Timberwolves reach the Western Conference Finals.

Karl-Anthony Towns, who has only played with the Timberwolves since making it into the NBA, selected with the No.1 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, wasn’t awaiting such a move. His reaction on X says it all about the trade:
