NUPENG condoles victims of Jigawa tanker explosion

The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) has commiserated with the families of the victims, people, and the government of Jigawa State affected by the unfortunate  Wednesday’s tanker explosion in Majiya, Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

NUPENG, in a statement through its President Prince Williams Akporeha and General Secretary Afolabi Olawole, lamented the tragic loss of over one hundred lives, the destruction of properties, and the injuries sustained by many in the devastating incident.

“The leadership and entire members of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers express our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and communities affected by the tragic petroleum tanker accident in Majiya, Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

“We are profoundly saddened by the loss of over one hundred precious lives, the destruction of properties, and the injuries sustained by many others in this devastating incident. 

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their loved ones during this highly traumatic and difficult time,” the statement read.

The union also expressed its solidarity with the affected families and the entire community of Majiya, as well as Jigawa State at large. 

Also, NUPENG commended the emergency first responders for their efforts in extinguishing the inferno and rescuing many injured victims.

“We urge all relevant authorities to provide the necessary support and medical care to those injured and to take measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.”

“May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may their families find the strength to bear these irreparable losses,” the statement added.
