Death, injury toll in Jigawa petrol tanker explosion rises

The Eagle Online recalls that the explosion occurred in the early hours of Wednesday in Majiya, Taura Local Government Area.
The driver of the tanker, who was travelling from Kano State to Nguru in Yobe State, lost control near Khadija University, Majiya.
According to the latest information on the incident that reportedly occurred at about 12:30am on Wednesday, 147 persons have been confirmed dead and 72 injured.

The chairman of Taura Local Government Area, Shuaibu Hambali, confirmed the latest casualty figures to newsmen.
