Thousands of famished customers across the UK have been left enraged as Deliveroo goes down, leaving drivers unable to pick-up deliveries.

As of midday today, there have been over 3,000 reports of customers experiencing IT issues on the app, according to Downdetector.

The majority of outages are believed to be in London, however the issue is believed to be nationwide with tech issues being recorded in other parts of the country.

Deliveroo have taken to X (formerly Twitter) to release the following statement: 'We're currently experiencing an issue with our app and website, we're working hard to get back up and running ASAP. Thank you for your patience.'

Customers have flocked to social media to express their anguish, as they are left watering at the mouth for their much desired takeaways.

One hungry customer tweeted: 'Deliveroo suddenly down when I already ordered my tunacado sandwich...bro stop playing.'

A second exclaimed: 'Not the Deliveroo app going down but still having the cheek to send me a notification prompting me to come back to the app for it to not work 'eyeing something'?

'WELL I WOULD BE IF I COULD.'

'Deliveroo app going down after I’ve ordered a nice chai tea latte is exactly what I need on a Saturday afternoon,' a third bemoaned.

Another asked: 'Deliveroo is your service down? I keep getting “something went wrong” in the app and cannot track my order.'

'@Deliveroo @DeliverooHelp atp just give me my money back.. I been waiting for an hour,' one customer quipped.

'I ordered food before the app went down. Restaurant said the food has been made but no delivery. Am I going to receive a refund for this,' one famished user asked.

'Deliveroo app is on some b******t, they are going to force me to actually go out and buy some food,' added another.

One individual claimed the platform was down to a DNS issue, meaning the entirety of the UK would not be able to use the platform

A customer also queried the delivery service as to when they would be up and running, to which they claimed to be fixing the issue 'as quickly as possible'.

It also appears on social media that customers as far as France are also experiencing issues with the app.

It comes weeks after  Deliveroo co-founder Will Shu sold nearly £15million of shares in his food delivery group just weeks after the company reported its first ever profit.

Chief executive Shu, 44, who has previously admitted to being 'obsessive' about making his company a success after setting it up more than a decade ago, has sold 9.4million shares worth £14.8million.

The transaction took place between September 12 and September 16 to 'cover personal property investments', the company revealed in a stock market disclosure.

Despite the huge pay day and ability to dine out in the fanciest restaurants, the notoriously private millionaire is likely to continue life as he likes it: eating breakfast, lunch and dinner ordered through Deliveroo and getting on a bike to deliver food to his customers.

A Deliveroo spokesperson said: ‘We’re currently experiencing a technical issue and our team are working hard to fix this as quickly as possible. We’re really sorry for any inconvenience.’
