A 15-year-old British girl is fighting for her life after a paraglider crashed into her while she was having lunch on a family holiday in Turkey.

Lily Nichol's mother thought she was dead after the freak accident which left the little girl in intensive care at Letoon Hospital in Fethiye, Turkey.

She was sitting at a table when she was 'wiped out'. She was meant to fly home to Newcastle yesterday but is currently in hospital suffering from several injuries.

The little girl has a broken jaw, broken ribs, a bleed on her brain and possibly a broken back.

Her mother Lyndsey, from Durham, said it was her 'worst nightmare' when her daughter was sat at the table eating pizza when she 'face-planted', falling unconscious and suffering a stroke.

However the family holiday with Lily and her sister Megan, 19, didn't include travel insurance and she has been left with a massive hospital bill.

The mother-of-two has set up a GoFundMe to help pay the £7,000 bill. It has already racked up £5,768 in just 21 hours.

She told The Sun: 'I thought she was dead, I thought she was dead, I was screaming.

'I was like where's the ambulance and I was like 'Lily keep talking to us, keep talking to us'.'

Lyndsey was furious to see the paraglider allegedly joking and drinking with his friends after colliding into her youngest daughter.

She added: 'I just never want to go on holiday again I don't think. I just want to wrap her round in cotton wool.'

On top of the bill, she is having to fork out for their hotel and taxis to and from the hospital to stay close to her daughter.
