Ex-Met cop David Carrick charged with sex offences against two women

Former Metropolitan Police officer David Carrick has been charged with eight sexual offences against two women.

The 49-year-old, of Stevenage, Hertfordshire, will appear in court later this month charged with five counts of indecent assault, two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

Hertfordshire Constabulary has also charged Carrick with one count of coercive and controlling behaviour.

The ex-cop, who joined the Met in 2001 before becoming an armed officer with the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command in 2009, will first appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on October 17.

Hertfordshire Constabulary said that the charges followed an 'extensive' investigation spanning several months.

Lisa Ramsarran, Chief Crown Prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service in Thames and Chiltern, said: 'The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised Hertfordshire Constabulary to charge David Carrick with sexual offences against two women.

'David Carrick has been charged with five counts of indecent assault, two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. 

'He has also been charged with one count of coercive and controlling behaviour.'

Detective Chief Inspector Iain Moor, of Hertfordshire Constabulary's Major Crime Unit and who led the investigation, added: 'The charges come in the wake of an extensive and complex investigation conducted over a period of several months.'
