Schoolboy, 15, arrested on suspicion of rape after attack in Exeter

A 15-year-old schoolboy has been arrested on suspicion of rape in Exeter.

A police cordon was placed along Catherine Street in the city centre following reports of a serious sexual assault in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The cordon was in place next to Drakes Coffee House but has since been removed.   

Police say enquiries into the incident continue as the boy has been released on bail until December 27.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: 'Police were notified in the early hours (of Thursday) following reports of a rape in Exeter city centre.

'A scene guard was put in place at Catherine Street.

'A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of rape and has been released on police bail until December 27.

'The victim is being support by specially trained officers as enquiries continue.'
