Strictly's Nick Knowles hits back at a fan after being slammed

Nick Knowles has hit back at a fan who slammed him for visiting a Harley Street clinic, after suffering a nasty arm injury on Monday.

The DIY SOS star, 62, has thrown his future on the show into doubt after revealing he'd injured his arm and shoulder while changing the tyre on his car.

At the time, Nick shared he was heading to see a doctor on Harley Street to receive a scan and further medical advice, and he was later pictured following the appointment with his fiancée Katie Dadzie.

But after a fan quipped that it 'must be nice' to have access to a private doctor, Nick hit back by declaring that he's been 'very lucky' to succeed in his career, and wants to pay his 'family back' for their support.

He added that while struggling to kickstart his TV career he would 'live in his career' and resorted to sleeping on his friends' sofas when his work 'wasn't paying.'

After Nick shared the update revealing his arm injury, a fan responded by saying: 'Must be nice to be able to go to Harley Street to get an assessment and scan whenever you want it.

'Most people would be on the phone for hours hoping to get through to the GP surgery or sat in A&E only to be put on a waiting list for a scan. Oh, how the other half live.'

Nick then responded by saying: 'Yes you’re right - it is. I’ve lived in my car occasionally & on other peoples sofas at times over last 40 years to keep at TV when it wasn’t paying but recently I’ve done well & been able to pay people back & look after my family including private healthcare. I’m very lucky.'

The presenter revealed he'd injured his arm on Sunday after breaking down on the motorway - and is still waiting on information from medics to see if he can continue on the show.

Joining Janette Manrara on It Takes Two on Monday with his professional partner Luba Mushtuk, Nick said he had been driving his 10-year-old son to the party when they broke down - before being further delayed as the pain in his arm grew worse.

'I actually missed my birthday party because of being stuck on the motorway,' he added.

Nick explained how his injury came about, revealing he'd hurt his arm as he hurriedly tried to change a tyre after breaking down.

'It was my birthday,' he said. 'I had a big family birthday, I went to get my ten year old son to bring him back to the party, but we broke down on the motorway with a flat tyre.

Nick said on Monday's It Takes Two that after initially damaging his bicep and arm, the pain got 'worse and worse', and he's hopeful he can resume training

'I just want to say thank you to the two policemen from Taplow who turned up and helped me get the tyre back on.'

Nick continued: 'It was raining and there were big lorries going past. So I tried to do it quickly and change the tyre quickly, and as I took the tyre off I basically damaged my bicep and damaged my arm...'

He explained that after initially damaging his bicep and arm, the pain got 'worse and worse', with the presenter telling how he ended up missing his own party because of the breakdown.

As Janette questioned whether he'll be able to continue on the show, Nick shared: 'I'm hopeful, I'll find out more tomorrow.

'I'm fully expecting to go into training and hopefully will be back on Saturday night.'

Meanwhile, it's reported that Nick will meet with the BBC show's physio on Tuesday, who will determine his fate.

A source told The Sun on Monday: 'Nick will learn whether he is able to stay on Strictly tomorrow.

'He has been booked in with the physio who works on the show and they will determine whether or not he will be able to dance this weekend.'
