Sam Smith puts on a leggy display in black shorts in New York

Sam Smith put on a leggy display on Tuesday as they headed for a leisurely lunch with pals in West Village, Manhattan.

The singer, 32, donned a pair of simple black shorts, which they teamed with a baby pink shirt and a black T-shirt.

Sam finished off their look with black loafers worn with white socks, a black cap and a brown crossbody bag.

At one point, they were seen clutching a hot beverage as they got their caffeine fix.

The Stay With Me hitmaker appeared in good spirits as they strutted through the streets of New York during downtime from their busy schedule. 

Sam's casual outing comes after they caught the eye in an electric blue silk suit as they hit the red carpet for the God's Love We Deliver Golden Heart Awards in New York City on Monday.

The star - who goes by the pronouns they/them since they announced they are non-binary in 2019 - sported a fitting double-breasted blazer jacket, matching trousers and a statement moustache.

After posing for a series of snaps, the Love You Like I Can hitmaker took to the stage at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine.

Sam attended the bash with their boyfriend and designer Christian Cowan.

Sam and British designer Christian were first linked in December 2022 but didn't confirm their relationship publicly until May 2024 when they made their Met Gala debut.

Cambridge-born Christian - who swapped UK for the Big Apple - graduated from the London College of Fashion in 2016 and founded his eponymous label that same year.

Despite being a newbie in the fashion scene, Christian ensured to rack up a significant celebrity clientele.

The public appearance comes after Sam opened up about a horrific skiing accident which left them traumatised and unable to walk.

The songwriter hasn't spoken about the incident until July, even though they were spotted walking around New York City in January with a cane in hand.

During a podcast interview, the singer revealed they had to be rescued from a ski slope after tearing their ACL in an accident earlier this year.

Sam explained the incident caused 'permanent damage' and has now left them feeling very 'anxious' as they focused on 'mental stuff' for the last seven months. 

Speaking on the BBC Sidetracked podcast, Sam said: 'I've been really focusing on my mental stuff for the last seven months because I actually broke my ACL.' 

They then described the moments leading up to the horrific incident: 'I completely ripped my ACL. I was skiing. I was an idiot and went on a black slope on the second day.'
