Liam Payne fans call for city memorial after star fell to his death
by Noor Qurashi · Mail OnlineThousands of grieving Liam Payne fans have signed a petition urging that a memorial is erected in honour of the One Direction star who tragically fell to his death.
The music lovers are requesting a permanent 'structure or mural' is put in place in the singer's home city of Wolverhampton in the West Midlands.
It comes as actress and singer Nicole Scherzinger, 46, became the latest celebrity to pay her respect to Liam, 31, who died after falling from the third-floor balcony of the CasaSur hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Liam fell 45ft and tragically passed away from multiple injuries, including internal and external bleeding, on October 16.
The singer's fans back in England previously reacted to the news of his passing by flocking to Wolverhampton to lay flowers and light candles.
And now more than 2,500 people have signed the petition calling on the council to consider building a permanent monument.
Their appeal page reads: 'The recent passing of Liam Payne has touched the hearts of many, not just the unbreakable community of One Direction fans, but people worldwide.
'As individuals who have been profoundly impacted by the loss of this amazing talent, we ask for a permanent structure or mural to be erected in Wolverhampton in his honour.
'Liam Payne's artistry has reached out and touched countless lives. His music was a harmonious blend of inspiration and comfort that resonated in the hearts of millions.
'His life and legacy deserve to be commemorated in a way that is as enduring as the light he imparted unto the world.
'By erecting a permanent structure in Wolverhampton, we are ensuring that Liam Payne is remembered for generations to come.
'This memorial will not only serve as a place to pay respects, but also a reminder of the incredible impact that individuals can make on the world.'
The petition's organisers say they would particularly like city officials to create a memorial befitting his personality.
They continued: 'We propose that the city, partnered with local artists, can create a memorial that reflects the spirit and essence of Liam Payne - his roots, his musical journey, and his incredible contribution to the international music community.
'This act of remembrance can provide comfort and solace to those who have been touched by his life and passing.'

Liam Payne fans' call for new 'Liam's Law' to protect young pop stars will be debated in Parliament
The petition comes after fans also called for a new 'Liam's Law' to protect the mental health of young pop stars.
This will be discussed in parliament as it has received over 110,000 signatures.
The proposed law would ensure stars get regular mental health check-ups, 'adequate rest periods', mental health professionals on set and ongoing support throughout their career.
Launched anonymously on October 18 by a fan named Day KV on Change.org, the explanation states: 'The entertainment industry must be held accountable and take responsibility for the well-being of its artists.
'Resultant issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, substance misuse and even suicide are alarmingly high.'
Prosecutors in Argentina say they believe Liam Payne may had been experiencing a drug-induced 'psychotic episode' after taking illegal substances prior to his death.
The upmarket hotel where he was staying has now been raided by police who are reportedly trying to find those accused of supplying him with the harmful substances.
